The School of Astronautics at Harbin Institute of Technology remains firmly committed to student-centered education and continues to strengthen its undergraduate teaching programs. To date, the school has established:
four national-level teaching demonstration centers (or bases),
eight national-level “First-Class Undergraduate Program” construction sites,
four provincial-level “First-Class Undergraduate Program” construction sites, and
five programs selected for the National Excellence Engineer Training Program.
The school also founded the national-level teaching team for mechanics courses, and Professors Zhang Shaoshi and Sun Yi have each been awarded the National Teaching Excellence Award for Higher Education Faculty.
So far, the school has developed:
eleven national-level “First-Class Undergraduate Courses”
twelve provincial-level “First-Class Undergraduate Courses”.
It has received:
six National Teaching Achievement Awards,
forty-seven Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards, and
three National Awards for Outstanding Coursebooks.
The Virtual Teaching and Research Office for Theoretical Mechanics was selected as one of the Ministry of Education's first pilot virtual teaching offices. In addition, the teaching teams for core aerospace undergraduate curriculum and theoretical mechanics were both recognized as Provincial Model Teaching Teams for Curriculum-Based Ideological and Political Education.
Over the past five years, the school has launched 53 new teaching reform projects at the provincial level and above, including 3 national-level projects and 50 provincial-level projects. During the same period, students have won 246 national-level awards in science and technology innovation competitions.
