Recently, the 2025 edition of the World’s Top 2% Scientists list, compiled by Stanford University and supported by data from the internationally recognized academic publisher Elsevier, was released. The list includes two categories — career long impact and single recent year impact — and identifies the top 2% of scientists worldwide from a database of more than 21.9 million researchers, covering 20 scientific fields and 174 sub-disciplines.
Several scholars from our School have been selected for this prestigious list.
Thirty-nine scholars, including Professors Duan Guangren, Gao Huijun, and Zhang Lixian, were listed under the career long impact category.
Fifty-seven scholars, including Academician Duan Guangren, Professor Zhou Bin, and Professor Zhang Lixian, were listed under the single recent year impact category.
Notably, Academician Duan Guangren ranked first globally in the subfield of Industrial Engineering & Automation.
The ranking is based on the Science-Metrix classification system and draws upon data from Scopus Author Profiles. Scholars are evaluated using the C-score indicator (calculated both with and without self-citations). Those ranked among the top 100,000 researchers globally, or within the top 2% of their respective sub-disciplines, are included.
Published annually, this dataset recognizes both the long-term academic contributions of researchers throughout their careers and their recent scholarly achievements and impact. Designed to provide an objective and accurate measure of scholars’ global scientific influence, it is widely used for research evaluation and analysis involving individual scientists.
