National Special Prize, Challenge Champion and “Star of Challenge”—HIT SOA Achieves a Historic Trio of Prizes at the “Challenge Cup” Recent News Highlighting SOA Achievements in Competitions

On November 3rd, the 19th “Challenge Cup” National College Students' Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition, co-sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, China Association for Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, All-China Students' Federation, and People's Government of Jiangsu Province, and hosted by Nanjing University, successfully concluded. This year's competition consisted of three categories: the Main Competition, the “Listed Tasks” Special Competition, and the “AI +” Special Competition. The participating teams from our school won multiple honors including the National Special Prize, Challenge Champion Award, and “Star of Challenge.”

National Special Prize

In the Main Competition, the project “Extreme Temperature Intelligent Sensing – Ultra-High Temperature and Ultra-Sensitive Nerve Ending-Like Temperature Sensing Materials”, guided by teachers including Yang Qiang and completed collaboratively by team members including Guo Zhengyou, won the National Special Prize. This marks the second time our university has received this top honor since first winning it in 2013, 12 years later, helping the university claim the “Champion Cup” for the first time in the “Challenge Cup” (commonly known as the “Grand Challenge”).

HIT SOA attaches great importance to students' scientific and technological innovation (STI), adhering to innovation-driven development as its core objective. Integrating different stages of students' participation in STI, the school has built a mechanism of “interest stimulation – seed incubation – achievement transformation” for innovation education, organized and promoted students' technological innovation. SOA created a full-chain STI support track, upholding the organizational efficiency of in-depth participation by teachers and students and full-cycle guidance and guarantee, whereby an innovative culture of “daring to explore and excel in creation” has been fostered which contributes to the school’s effort to produce a talent echelon with innovative thinking capabilities. Since 2020, the school has won more than 400 awards in various national competitions such as the Challenge Cup and National College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and its experience in student STI work has been awarded the Special Prize for Provincial Teaching Achievements.
