On February 20 local time, the men's freestyle skiing aerials final of the Milan Winter Olympics was held at the Livigno Aerials & Moguls Park. Four Chinese athletes, including Qi Guangpu and Wang Xindi, both doctoral students at HIT SOA, advanced to the finals. Wang Xindi went on to win gold with a score of 132.60, earning China its fourth gold medal of the Games.

Wang Xindi, born in 1995 in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, is a member of China’s freestyle skiing aerials team and a doctoral student in mechanics at SOA.. The 2026 Milan Winter Olympics marks his third time representing the country in the Winter Olympics. He has previously won the overall season title in the FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup aerials event and finished as runner-up at the World Championships. In 2025, he was selected for the Asia-Pacific Leaders Initiative.
In this Winter Olympics, four doctoral students from SOA—Qi Guangpu, Wang Xindi, Kong Fanyu, and Liu Jiayu—were selected for the Chinese sports delegation, competing in three events: short track speed skating, freestyle skiing aerials, and snowboard halfpipe.
