A delegation from Shanghai Aerospace Systems Engineering Research Institute visited SOA

On March 19, Chen Heng, Party Secretary of CASC Shanghai Aerospace Systems Engineering Research Institute, led a delegation to visit our school. The two sides held discussions on talent development, research collaboration, and the development of innovation platforms. The meeting was chaired by Ma Feng, Party Secretary of the School of Astronautics. Attendees from CASC Aerospace System Engineering Shanghai included Wang Hua, Assistant Director of the institute; Zhao Zhijie, Deputy Chief Designer on a major program; Liu Xuhui, Deputy Director of Human Resources; Lian Xu, Project Manager in the Space Science Program Department; SOA faculty and staff attending the meeting included Guo Jifeng and Wang Xiaogang, Deputy Deans of the school; Miao Chengguo, Deputy Party Secretary; Zhang Tingyu, Assistant to the Dean; Professor Zhang Chunyang from the Institute of Composite Materials and Structures; and student counselor Qian Chengyi.

Ma Feng welcomed the delegation on behalf of the school. He noted that the School of Astronautics at HIT plays a key role in aerospace education and research in China and is committed to supporting the country’s space programs. He highlighted strong potential for collaboration with CASC Aerospace System Engineering Shanghai in areas such as space control and inertial technology, advanced vehicle design, and composite materials and structures. He expressed hope that the visit would help deepen collaboration between academia and industry, develop highly skilled graduates with both strong theoretical foundations and practical experience, and produce advanced technologies that support national priorities.

During the meeting, both sides outlined their development and key strengths. Attendees from SOA highlighted its achievements over the past five years in education, research, and faculty development, while visitors from CASC Aerospace System Engineering Shanghai presented its core areas of work, including launch vehicle systems, space science programs, and space structures. The two sides discussed topics such as training models, research collaboration, and student career pathways, and reached initial agreement on establishing regular exchanges and developing joint research platforms. Both sides noted strong complementarity and broad prospects for cooperation in both major national projects and frontier research.

In his concluding remarks, Chen Heng said that CASC Aerospace System Engineering Shanghai has long played an important role in China’s launch vehicle and space science programs, contributing to projects such as the Long March rocket series, manned spaceflight, and lunar exploration. With extensive technical expertise and ongoing efforts to advance key technologies, the institute places great importance on collaboration with leading universities. He expressed hope that this exchange would help align the institute’s needs with SOA’s research strengths and talent pool, expand cooperation, and promote closer integration of research and industry in support of building China into a strong power in space exploration.
