The 2025 China Aerospace Foundation Awards were presented on April 24 during the opening ceremony of the main events for China Space Day, recognizing outstanding scientists, engineers, and teams for their contributions to major aerospace projects, fundamental research, key technological innovation, technology transfer, science outreach, and international cooperation. Professor Zhang Xinghong of HIT School of Astronautics, along with alumni Wu Siliang and Zhang Chongfeng, received the Qian Xuesen Outstanding Contribution Award, while alumni Ma Guojun, Liu Xigang, Peng Zhiyong, and Wei Zizhong received the Aerospace Contribution Award. This year, 18 individuals received the Qian Xuesen Outstanding Contribution Award and 145 received the Aerospace Contribution Award.

Qian Xuesen Outstanding Contribution Award
Zhang Xinghong is Dean of the School of Astronautics at Harbin Institute of Technology, professor, doctoral supervisor, and a nationally recognized leading scholar. He serves on the boards and committees of several major academic organizations in China and on the editorial boards of leading academic journals in China and abroad. His research focuses on advanced ultra-high-temperature thermal protection materials and structures, and the thermal protection materials developed by his team have been successfully applied in the thermal protection systems of several next-generation aerospace vehicles. Projects under his leadership have received national and provincial-level science and technology awards.
Wu Siliang studied Electromagnetic Measurement Technology and Instrumentation in the Department of Radio Engineering from 1992 to 1995, where he earned his doctoral degree.
Zhang Chongfeng studied Aircraft Design in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from 1994 to 1998, earning his doctoral degree.
Aerospace Contribution Award
Ma Guojun studied Control Engineering in the Department of Control Science and Engineering from 2008 to 2013, earning his master’s degree.
Liu Xigang studied in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering from 1993 to 1997, earning his bachelor’s degree. He later studied Aeronautical and Astronautical Science and Technology in the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from 2014 to 2019, where he earned his master’s degree.
Peng Zhiyong studied Automation in the Department of Control Science and Engineering from 2003 to 2007, earning his bachelor’s degree.
Wei Zizhong studied Electronic Instrumentation and Measurement Technology in the Department of Radio Engineering from 1989 to 1993, earning his bachelor’s degree. He then studied Communication and Electronic Systems in the same department from 1993 to 1995, where he earned his master’s degree.
