FromSeptember 1^st to September 3^rd, Professor Zhi Xiyang, Associate Dean of HIT SOA, led a delegation comprising Professor Yuan Shuai of HIT SOA and Associate Professor Pan Wente of the School of Architecture and Design to King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) in Bangkok at the university’s invitation to attend KMITL EXPO 2026, the university’s 2026 Science and Technology Week event held under the theme “From Lab to Life.” The expo showcased more than 400 cutting-edge innovations and research achievements and featured ten themed exhibition pavilions covering areas such as aerospace, energy, and artificial intelligence. It drew large numbers of faculty, students, and industry experts and was covered by major Thai media outlets.

During the visit, the HIT delegation held a series of focused discussions with key Thai researchers to advance joint research in areas including spacecraft and space remote sensing technologies, future lunar architecture, and intelligent construction. The future lunar architecture prototype and intelligent construction technology jointly researched and developed by the two sides by the two sides were prominently showcased in the China-Thailand joint exhibition area. The proposed design is intended for the extreme lunar environment  and integrates in-situ resource utilization with automated construction approaches. Its distinctive spatial configuration and engineering innovations drew considerable attention from visitors, while several Bangkok-based media outlets published special reports featuring text and photographs on the results of this cross-border aerospace collaboration.

As one of the expo’s key international partners, HIT’s interdisciplinary research team working across aerospace and architecture was involved throughout the planning, exhibitrefinement, and implementation of the joint exhibition area, and the joint work received strong recognition from KMITL. During the event, Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, met with members of the HIT delegation. The Deputy Prime Minister fully affirmed the innovative cooperation outcomes of cooperation between the two universities in aerospace, noting that Thailand is actively developing research programs in lunar exploration. He said that the Thai government would continue to provide policy support for these efforts and promote sustained cooperation in establishing joint research platforms, facilitating faculty and student exchanges, and developing joint talent-training programs, with the aim of generating more high-quality research achievements.

The visit further strengthened HIT’s partnerships with leading Thai universities, contributing to more diverse and sustained scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries in the Asia-Pacific aerospace field.
