JOIN-USHIT sincerely invite talents from both home and aproad to join in the new course of constructing first-class universities. |
Recently, the National Textbook Committee and the Ministry of Education announced the recipients of the Second National Textbook Construction Award. Sensors and Detection Technology (3rd Edition), edited by Chen Jie and other HIT SOA faculty members, received First Prize in the National Excellent Textbooks (Higher Education Category), while the digital textbook Theoretical Mechanics, edited by Sun Yi and Zeng Fanlin, received Second Prize in the same category.

Sensors and Detection Technology, 3rd Edition
Sensors and Detection Technology is designed to meet major national needs and focuses on integrating industrialization with information technology. Against the backdrop of rapid advances in information technology, it emphasizes the engineering-oriented nature of the subject and keeps pace with the latest developments in sensor and detection technology. It integrates the teaching of disciplinary knowledge in each chapter with value-oriented education, establishing a comprehensive framework for values education and integrating value development with disciplinary learning objectives. In terms of content, it balances breadth and depth and gives equal emphasis to theory and practice, while helping students develop the ability to innovate in solving complex engineering problems. It also adopts new digital and multimedia formats and harnesses digital technologies to facilitate independent learning and a variety of teaching and learning activities. Since its first publication in 2002, the textbook has been adopted by more than 200 Double First-Class universities and key science and engineering universities, and has received widespread positive feedback in teaching practice. It was subsequently issued in new editions in 2010 and 2021, with total distribution reaching several hundred thousand copies. It was named a Beijing Municipal Excellent Textbook and selected as one of 100 outstanding higher-education textbooks, and was included in the national catalog of planned textbooks for the 11th and 12th Five-Year Plans.

Digital textbook Theoretical Mechanics
The digital textbook Theoretical Mechanics builds on the eighth edition of Theoretical Mechanics, but is not merely an electronic version of the print textbook. Rather, in response to the latest wave of technological change and the ongoing digital transformation of education, it represents a systematic redesign of the textbook, teaching approaches, and learning environment. It is one of the core textbooks developed under the “101 Plan” for mechanics. The textbook introduces a new model of teaching and learning, creating an integrated digital learning system that combines knowledge resources, guidance from distinguished teachers, intelligent tutoring, and targeted assessment. It provides students with an immersive, adaptive learning experience accessible anytime and anywhere. Its content emphasizes higher-order learning and innovation, helping students engage in deeper learning and make significant advances in critical-thinking skills. Building on this textbook, HIT has developed a comprehensive suite of digital teaching resources for theoretical mechanics that reflects HIT’s distinctive approach to teaching the subject. The textbook has been customized and adopted by multiple universities, including HIT and Sun Yat-sen University, reaching more than 15,000 faculty members and students in total. Its innovative, multidimensional learning experience has received widespread recognition and positive feedback from faculty and students. The first edition of HIT’s Theoretical Mechanics textbook was published by Higher Education Press in 1961. Over the past more than six decades, successive generations of authors and editors have continuously revised and updated the textbooks to meet the changing needs of higher education over the decades, producing nine revised editions. The series has been adopted by more than 300 universities across China, with more than 10 million copies distributed in total. It is the most widely used and most influential series of Theoretical Mechanics textbooks in China, playing an important role in engineering education in China and making a significant contribution to the education and training of engineering students nationwide. This is the latest national textbook award received by the series, following the First Prize awarded to the eighth edition of Theoretical Mechanics at the First National Textbook Construction Award.
