HIT SOA Holds Role-Model Sharing Session for Incoming Graduate Students of 2026

HIT SOA Holds the Aerospace Mentoring Aerospace Outstanding Achievements Report Meeting for 2026 Graduate Students

On September 28, 2026, HIT SOA held a role-model sharing session in the auditorium of the Main Building for incoming graduate students of the 2026 cohort.

HIT SOA held the Aerospace Mentoring Aerospace Outstanding Achievements Report Meeting for its 2026 graduate students at the Main Building Auditorium.

The session, themed “Aerospace Professionals Inspiring the Next Generation,” focused on two key stages in graduate students’ development: graduate study and the transition to employment.

The meeting focused on two key stages in the graduate students' academic career: academic training and employment.

Six outstanding faculty members and students were invited to share their personal journeys, experiences, and reflections, offering incoming students a broad range of role models and practical insights.

Six outstanding faculty and student representatives were invited to share their growth experiences and reflections, providing comprehensive and multi-dimensional role model guidance for the freshmen.

Attending the event were Wu Hongxing, Party Secretary of HIT SOA; Miao Chengguo, Deputy Party Secretary; and the school’s graduate student advisers.

Wu Hongxing, Party Secretary of HIT SOA, Miao Chengguo, Deputy Party Secretary, and the school's graduate student advisers attended the meeting.

Wu Hongxing outlined HIT SOA’s recent progress and ongoing development, looking back on the 15-year history of the “Aerospace Professionals Inspiring the Next Generation”series and how this tradition has been carried forward.

He encouraged the incoming students to make the most of their time as graduate students, build a solid foundation in their chosen fields, retain their curiosity and drive to innovate, and have the courage to explore new frontiers. He also urged them to carry forward the pioneering spirit of China’s aerospace community, strengthen their commitment to serving the country, and align their aspirations with China’s efforts to become a leading space power.

Sun Haiyue, a 2023 Ph.D. student, drew on his own research achievements to share insights on the core issues of graduate research. He proposed several practical methods, including prioritizing research direction in topic selection, employing a three-step approach to literature review, troubleshooting experimental problems hierarchically, and planning paper writing in parallel.

Young faculty member Xi Ruichen reviewed how the Lilac Student Micro-Nano Satellite Team built the program from scratch through successive efforts. He shared stories of the team overcoming key technical bottlenecks. Citing the development processes of satellites such as the ASRTU Friendship and Lilac-3 as examples, he highlighted the aerospace practitioners' commitment to continuous improvement and the pursuit of excellence on their journey of chasing dreams.

Guo Zhengyou, a 2024 Ph.D. student, shared his story of progressing from tackling key challenges in sensing materials to developing actual devices, ultimately winning the top prize at the Challenge Cup competition. Drawing on his experience, he shared his growth trajectory of cross-disciplinary collaborative problem-solving and dedicated trial-and-error with reflection.

Liu Xin,a 2024 Ph.D. student, reviewed his initial confusion and setbacks as a new graduate student, as well as his breakthroughs in overcoming research challenges. He shared how he accumulated knowledge through literature review and repeated trial and error, and how he served his peers through student work. Through the mutual reinforcement between research and student services, he described his growth from individual effort to collective synergy.

Under the title Taking Research as the Foundation and Exchange as the Bridge, Wu Shimeng, a 2023 Ph.D. student, drew on her research studies and overseas exchange experiences to share her growth journey. She recounted her progression from initial exploration upon starting research, to gradually developing a suitable research methodology, and ultimately to pursuing a joint Ph.D. program at the University of Seville in Spain.

Zhao Zhijie, Researcher and Acting Deputy Dean of HIT SOA, reviewed his industry experience and university-enterprise secondment work, and highly affirmed the school's comprehensive disciplinary strength and cutting-edge research capabilities. He encouraged the freshmen to build a solid professional foundation, forge robust physical and mental health, and cultivate a broad vision for the nation, devoting themselves to the cause of building China into an aerospace power.

The Aerospace Mentoring Aerospace report meeting is an important vehicle for ideological and political education at HIT SOA. By selecting outstanding role models around the critical growth processes of graduate students, it covers diverse paths from academic exploration to engineering practice, and from personal breakthroughs to social responsibility. The meeting is designed to guide students to bravely take up the roles of pioneers and leaders at China's premier aerospace university, and to contribute HIT's strength to building China into an aerospace power.
